ஐ.நா. தீர்மானம் மீதான வாக்கெடுப்பு ஒத்திவைப்பு - நாளை நடைபெறும்

ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மனித உரிமை பேரவையில் இலங்கை தொடர்பான தீர்மானத்தின் மீதான வாக்கெடுப்பு நாளையே -23- இடம்பெறும் என தகவல்கள் வெளியாகி யுள்ளன.

இன்று வாக்கெடுப்பு இடம்பெறவிருந்த நிலையில் திட்டமிடல்சிக்கல்கள் காரணமாக நாளையே வாக்கெடுப்பு இடம்பெறும் என  அதிகாரிகளை மேற்கோள் காட்டி தகவல்கள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன.

தீர்மானத்தின் நகல்வடிவின் மீதான வாக்கெடுப்பு மார்ச்23 ம் திகதி இடம்பெறும் என தெரிவித்துள்ள அதிகாரியொருவர் ஆராயப்படவுள்ள முதலாவது தீர்மானம் என்ற அடிப்படையில் ஜெனீவா நேரப்படி காலை 9 மணிக்கு தீர்மானத்தின் மீதான வாக்கெடுப்பு இடம்பெறும் எனவும் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்

The resolution against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva will be taken up for vote tomorrow (23).

According to the Daily Mirror, the vote which was to take place today, has been postponed to tomorrow, due to scheduling issues.

Officials said the vote on draft resolution A/HRC/46/L.1 will take place tomorrow, adding that as it will be the first resolution to be reviewed the timing should most likely be shortly after 09.00 (Geneva time).

The resolution requests the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to enhance its monitoring and reporting on the situation of human rights in Sri Lanka, including on progress in reconciliation and accountability.

The Office further requests for an oral update to the Human Rights Council at its forty-eighth session, as well as a written update at its forty-ninth session.

A comprehensive report that includes further options for advancing accountability, has also been requested for at its fifty-first session, with all to be discussed in the context of an interactive dialogue.

The resolution also encourages the Office of the High Commissioner and relevant special procedure mandate holders to provide, in consultation with and with the concurrence of the Government of Sri Lanka, advice and technical assistance on implementing the above-mentioned steps.

However, the vote on the resolution against Sri Lanka, is expected to go against the country, with most countries having decided to extend their support in favor of the resolution. (NewsWire)
