A special meeting was held this morning (31) between National organisers of the SLFP and the SLPP - Duminda Dissanayake and Basil Rajapaksa, political sources say.

The meeting, held at the residence of Mr. Dissanayake in Colombo, had lasted for around two hours.

It is said that the the duo had discussed on how to resolve issues between the two parties.

Mr. Dissanayake has reportedly expressed his distress over the SLFP and some supporters having to face issues, subsequent to the new government coming into power.

However, sources say that Mr. Dissanayake has decline a request to accept a ministerial portfolio in the Mahinda Rajapaksa-led government.
