President Maithrepala Sirisena has informed on Thursday to students who came to the President’s House to get their Environment Pilot Badges, and their teachers that there is a palatial super luxury house, which runs 30 feet, underneath the President’s House.

President’s media said that they were given the opportunity to view this luxury house.

The President has disclosed to them that this air conditioned house has all amenities including Yoga Exercise Halls and a Gymnasium. He has told them that 3 million rupees a month, has to be spent to maintain this place. Therefore, President Sirisena has said that he has chosen to live in a house which can be maintained at a cost of about Rs. 500,000.00.

He said that monthly electricity bill of the President’s House is 15 million rupees and as such he does not reside there. But still a monthly electricity bill of 3 million rupees has to be paid for it, he said.

A part of this super luxury building has been built above the ground level and the air conditioners have been made to run all 24 hours. It said that the air conditioners have to be in operation all 24 hours of the day to protect the special timber variety which covers the walls of this building. This super luxury house is consisted of 5 rooms, 8 bath rooms and 4 lounge areas.

Former President Mahinda Rajapakse has not used this as his official residence. It was used only for Diplomatic gatherings. It has been used most of the time by his son Namal Rajapakse and his friends.

  1. what luxury you found here...just for Rs. 5000 to Rs 10000 you can get a room more then this luxury and comfort at a hotel

  3. Anyway during Tiger terror times, President and other most targeted people like Defence Secretary needed anonymous safe houses like these. During war times ,in many countries safe houses like these are operated. For secret meetings etc. Exposing these may not be wise.
