Scholarship students, Saudi Arabia needs you...

Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has urged Saudi students, who have gone abroad for higher studies under the King Abdullah Foreign Scholarship Program, to return home as soon as they can to take part in nation building.

“Studying abroad should not lull you into forgetting about your home country; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is waiting for your return and your active contribution,” the mufti told nearly 200,000 Saudis who are currently studying in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and other countries.

Al-Asheikh urged scholarship students to make good use of the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and expertise. “But you should never think of leaving the Kingdom forever; you should limit your stay abroad and return to the Kingdom as soon as you can. Your country needs to benefit from your newly acquired knowledge,” the grand mufti said.

He said government scholarship students should understand their responsibility toward their country and make good use of their time abroad to learn and expand their knowledge. “Every year wasted without any benefit is a big loss for the country and the Ummah,” he said.

Speaking about the beginning of the new academic year, he emphasized the role of teachers in developing the capabilities of their students and molding their character.
