Students and government employees all over the Kingdom will get two days of holidays on the occasion of the National Day holiday that falls on Sept. 23, according to a royal decree issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on Monday.
“As this year’s National Day falls on the second day of working days, Sunday has been declared a holiday for students of all academic levels as well as government employees,” the decree said.
Saudis and expatriates have welcomed the royal gesture, which will effectively allow citizens to enjoy four days of holidays — Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
It is a common practice in many countries worldwide to declare a holiday during a regular day when it is sandwiched between two off-days or holidays.
