Saudi students invent animal feeding device
Two female students, Ajyad Al-Jawad and her colleague Yomna Nasrallah from Al-Bassam Private Schools (Girls) in Dammam, have invented an automatic animal feeding device. The girls participated in the National Olympiad for Science Innovation (creativity), which was recently organized by the department of education in the Eastern Province in Dammam.
The girls were motivated by the death of Ajyad’s pet cat who died while she was abroad because the maid forgot to feed her. She worked in collaboration with her friend Yomna to create an automatic animal feeding device based on providing a predetermined quantity of food and drink to feed animals at regulated intervals without human intervention. The animal will be alerted by a buzzer and red flashes indicating his meal time. The project is entitled “Our pets won’t die in our absence.”
The animal feeding device can handle a food and drink capacity for three months.
Hamed Bulbul, a factory owner in Dammam, has sponsored the manufacture of the device, pointing out that it will benefit a large number of families that breed pets but face problems feeding them while traveling or staying away from home.
